Got 5.7L/100km from Sydney to Canberra and back according to the gauge but consistent with the actual figure. I wouldn't do it again though... the lack of cruise control is a pain on the heels.

well, yesterday I went out and saw the price has drop to 106~!!! that's the cheapest rate I've ever seen in this month ^^ yeah....that's because the trading price in NYSE for oil was at its lowest for the past 2 months.

hmmm~~ will they achieve under 100? Can't see it happening without the federal government lowering excise tax or GST on petrol but the election isn't close enough yet to grab those guaranteed votes.

hey guys... still a newbie... just wonderin... is it normal to have at least 8.5lt/100km ?? that was my minimum reading tho... the max was 9.1lt/100km.... and now it got up to 8.0lt/100km and minimum was 7.5 lt/100km (hardly)
was thinkin that honda ripped me off coz the fuel consumption was pretty cr*p.... or is there problems with my car? but to the fact that i drove under 4000rpm... just under....

Hyde,
Welcome btw.. which state you from and what model of Jazz do you drive? Gli, Vti, VTiS? Manual or CVT?
Assuming that you've just got your car.. the car should be still running it... If I were you.. I will be easy on the foot.. stay below 3500rpm would be advisable.. (no scientific prove on this.. purely IMO)
In answering to your question.. from what I understand.. fuel consumption on your Jazz depends on a few factors.. such as your model, Manual or CVT? the way you drive, the places you drive, hills, straight road, traffic lights, freeways..distance.. mod.. air pressure.. type of oil.. etc. etc..
For me, local suburb driving with a few small incline hills and a few traffic lights, very short drive (e.g. 10 - 15 mins each trip).. with occassional freeways. 6.7 - 7.2L/100km is very normal to my VTiS CVT..
Friends driving VTi CVT and he is doing like 6.3 - 6.7L/100km
I dun think Honda has ripped you off... wait till your 1000km service and observe from there.. I reckon..

hey guys... i got 402km out of a full tank (untill the lights came on) i just drove normally. i cant stand the fact of keeping it under 3000rpm without using VTEC. i managed to get average of 9.1L/100km
(highest was 16L/100km) and that was redlining it hahahahahah

one other thing hyde, how often do you reset your fuel consumption meter? the more u reset it the more variation there is in the fuel consumption reading.

i say give it a few months before the reading becomes more accurate. funny thing happend today, filled up my tank, left the petrol station, and the meter showed 20lt/100km but that was 5 seconds ^^;

Zen, that is normal... It will adjust depending on how heavy your foot is and how many left in the tank.. that's my observation.. usually when it comes to the last few litres.. it will hardly change..

Average is 8.00/100kms
Driving condition. Mainly City driving with 5mins to work and another 5mins back home after works most days. That means most time car doesn't get enough to fully warm up.. cold light disappears half way to work. Probably about 4Kms to work and another back home.
Weekends longer drive about 30mins drive is the longest stint
I think the culprit is the short distant driving causing the high Kms.
Odometer reads approx 10,000kms
1.5 VTI-S Manual
Driving habit.. change gears at about 4krpm with occasionaly 6rpm gear change. Normal - spirited take offs (not drag launches)
Anyone can comment if my cars is consuming too much petrol considering the above conditions?
Is there a way to reset the ECU?
