With manual, you've got a bit more flexibility to slip the clutch a bit more to let the engine spin a bit more rather than get bogged down until the revs build up. But for the Jazz, I think the CVT will suit. I'll report on the freeway driving when I head to Canberra this weekend. On the CVT just hold the brake on hard, rev it up and take your foot of the brake for a sling shot start. Not very good for brakes or the transmission though. That's why they have dealer test cars.

I think for performance its fairly clear that the manual is faster.. Go to local honda dealer and test drive both Vti models... The CVT is fantasic, if i could have afforded one when I got my Jazz I would have got it, but on the downside its not as fast straightline. According to the sciencetific calculation from my first post.. the CVT has better performance ... but in real like .. it could be different? Also.. I reckon the manual has better fuel economy from normal driving but CVT has better fuel economy when cruising on the freeway...

If you sit in Sydney peak hour traffic you spend more time with the clutch on a manual pushed in than out. Eliminates any fun factor that a manual might offer after a few weeks of this. The auto is also easier in creeping stop start traffic. Don't get me started.. Pennant Hills Rd closed heading north during peak hour... the amount of circling to get around the parking lot~~~~~ poor RAV4 clutch!

but i find that when CVT (my car) in low rpm, e.g. between 1500 - 2000 rpm, i can feel "change grear shake" (a big shake).
If u are driving CVT, do u mind to do a test for me see is it only my problem?
How to test it: find a long straight road, run your car to 50-6km/h, and than release your accelerator, and don't press brake, let the car move and decelerate, observe/feel any "change grear shake" b4 it stop completely!!
Thanks!

Thanks! Doesn't happen on mine. Have you done enough k's on yours to warrant changing the CVT fluid maybe? I'd be changing the CVT fluid at double the handbook intervals. I think it says 100k, I'd be doing it every 50k.

agree~~ unless U don't want to service your car after 40000km~~ I've quote the service price for manual 1.5 would be AUD600~! whereas other service centre like famous ultra tune only charge for AUD198~
