Anyone painted their engine / rocker cover? If so what did you use? Did you remove the Honda and Vtec badges or tape them? Any pictures?

Will move this to the Tech section unless we have a DIY write up like the others... Cheers.

hi there...i have done my rocker cover...=).....what you need to do...or more correctly what to do is: 1)got to autobarn or some car shop and get something call wrinkle paint or heat resistant paint (i chose the wrinkle paint to get that type-r rugged look) 2)remove the cover from the engine bay by removing the two screws 3)either tape over the vtec sign or remove it by snapping off the plastic things at the back. *remeber when replacing the vtec badge use fresh 3m tape or super glue as i didnt bother to and lost it....resulting in buying a new one from honda for 14 bucks..=).... 4)no need to prime the cover..just spray the paint on (i did 2 coats) then let dry and replace=)........ also i taped up the three 'legs' on the bottom of the rocker...so only the main cover has been sprayed=)..... hope that helps!!...=)

Thanks for the info.
I'm tossing up between wether to paint it or just get a carbon fibre cover as a replacement. The infomation about the vtec badge is applicable either way and I was wondering about how to handle it.
As you say jazz this mod is meaningless performance wise (just decorative) but really dresses up the whole engine bay. I thought it would nicely finish off the audio install I'm doing since the battery area is being dressed up anyway.

this blue or red is fine with me. do you know you can get the guys at autobarn (bne - slacks creek) to mix the paint to match the colour code of your car? i can have my engine cover in vivid blue. ;D but i don't mind sharing with you this blue of red paint. it would be nice if the engine cover is blue, vtec as it is and the "honda" in red. need more time but i think it will be nice.
