Hey guys, yesterday i parked my car outside my friends house, when i came out i noticed someone has dented my car with a glass bottle and smashed the one of the side mirror into a million pieces. there is about 4 dents (driver door), but minor ones. its not worth doing a insurance job because the premium next year will incease and making a claim will cost about $400. all i want to do now is to just fix the side mirror (just the glass)
what do you guys think i should do? where can i get a replacement mirror
thanks guys

No, you'll lose 20% because you cannot identify the damager... same if it's a hail storm ... acts of god etc.... sorry to hear it.. I've been in a bingle myself this week but not my fault and at least I can point the finger at them. Even though it's not my car but I still feel a bit crappy for it happening.

I smashed a side mirror on my ute a couple of years ago. Got it replaced at Campsie Glass on Canterbury road for $25-. They do heaps of taxi work and have been around for decades.

if its just the side mirror damaged (not the whole side mirror housing) then it shouldn't cost too much just to replace the glass/mirror.

sorry to hear that mate... $400 bucks should be able to pay for a side mirror and get those dents fixed...
If you have rating 1 protection, I believe most insurance company would allow you to do no more than 2 claims for 3 years without affecting your rating.. (that's the case with my insurance policy..)

its it cost $400 then its not worth doing an insurance job, i just dont want to ruin my reputation for my insurance. i'd have to pay about $400 anyway to make a claim i'll just fix the mirror and hot that someone will hit my driver door and make it worth the claim. lol
thanks guys

just go down to your local police station make a claim, see if they want to take forensic evidence and then make a claim with the insurance company and also pass them the police record number (a mumber given when you report an incident to the police) and also make sure that you tell them exactly what happen and also time, date ect....
you shouldn't be charged any premium as it wasn't you fault
this happened to my parents car once, parked on roadside parking some idiots were fighting and they were slammed onto my mums car, and broke the glass and dented the entire door and it was also scratched, we went to the police station and made a claim with insurance and everthing was fine, no extra premium and no loss of no claim bonus, however just for you sake of it ASK them will you premium increase if you make this claim if not then go ahead, because we asked our repairer how much this job would have cost and they said it was $5000+
i hope this information helps and that it wasn't too late
