Just did my CVT transmission oil change.. (please note that the recommended service interval for CVT transmission oil change is 40,000km)
Do it at your own risk. Neither myself or Fitta'er Australia will be held responsible for any damage which you might have caused to the your car's transmission while following this DIY guidelines.
[li] You will need about 3.2 - 3.4L of Honda ATF-Z1 Auto Transmission Oil (as pictured). They only come with 1 litre bottle.. you will need 4 bottles. Please note that Manual transmission will require different oil.
[/li][li] Jack the car up both side. You will require another jack. Hydraulic jack is recommended. (You might be able to get away with just one jack, up to you.)
[/li][li] Locate the transmission oil drain bolt (as pictured below) and loosen it with the correct tool. (You will need the square spanner to fit into the bolt as pictured. Most tool box will have it)
[/li][li] Place the oil collector underneath and slowly unscrew the bolt completely..
[/li][li] Leave until it is completely drain.. (I lowered down the jack from the passenger side so that the old transmission oil can flow out more through the hole.)
[/li][li] Clean the bolt with some clean cloth. (I suspect they are actually magnetic bolt as some debris were sticked onto the end bit of the bolt and cleaning is definitely required)
[/li][li] I left it drained for 2 hours.
[/li][li] Put the screw back on and tighten it.
[/li][li] Remove the transmission oil dipstick from the engine bay and insert the flexi funnel into the dipstick hole/insert. (flexi funnel is required as the dipstick insert is quite deep and the 1 litre bottle would not be able to reach)
[/li][li] Pour in the new transmission oil slowly.. (Make sure you pour it in small amount at a time as I learn it the hard way.. the oil overflowed and spilled out from the hole)
[/li][li] Usually 3.2L should be enough for the change (accordingly to the manual) DO NOT over filled.
[/li][li] Check the level of your transmission oil as accordingly to the manual. (start the car and hold your rev to 1500rpm until the cooling fan comes on.. it says rotate twice in the manual.. turn off the engine.. check the dipstick level after 60 - 90 seconds.)
[/li][/ul]
Extreme Caution:
1. Avoid water getting into the transmission at all stage.
2. Do not change the transmission oil if the engine is hot.. you will burn yourself.
