hai~~ I would never touched my door trim~~ feel like jazz is abit fragile to me too~~ twice DIY always break someting~ I broke the rubber guard (underneath the side fender) while changing the halogen bulb, and broke one of the "pin" while DIY the mesh of my bumber" ~~ grrr, too risky for me..><~

supatt, u'll need some think MDF (around 12mm) to mount the speaker. my 6" isn't too big so i dunno if your's fit.

phillip, just wondering what 6" splits did you use..? i mean what model. cos the fusion ones i have have a tweeter that sticks out of the centre. thanks mate!

if your speakers have tweeters in the middle, they're not splits. they're co axials.
i forgot my model number. but it's the cheaper line.

Yup. sure do. u can go to Bunnings to buy some (12mm or 16mm depends on the size of the magnet) MDF and cut a pair of surround out.

serious.
u can't install the speakers without them. u can't screw directly onto the doors.
surround from shops won't work, the jazz door has funny shape and a round surrond won't fit flush.

the plastic seal thingy never extends to the speakers so i don't quite understand your question.
i don't think anyone water proof their speakers.....

sorry i thought that little plastic thing with letters on it is supposed to cover the speaker from water .. looks like i'm looking at the wrong door Ed
