It's all happening.. we are going to move to a new forum shortly. Dates will be provided below...
The new Board : new.ausfit.com (will be replaced by http://www.ausfit.com) once we cut over.
Our forum is also known as www.ausjazz.org
To make things more complicated.. This is the secondary name
Please register yourself and start using it..
The cut over date I am looking at is midnight Next Tuesday 07/03/2006.
So.. as mentioned before.. we are moving because:
1. It is great that Proboards is free but there are no gurantee that the data will be protected because we are not sure what sort of support or backup they have in Proboards... after all, it's a free service.
2. Before we grow any further, we have to move out of Proboards as there is no way to convert the data over to any other forum software.. The bigger we grow.. the more painful it gets to convert...
3. Advertisements and limits..
4. We want our data to have some sort of backup and that we are fully protected when disaster strikes..
5. More professional looking...
The only way to move the messages from Proboards to phpbb2 is to cut and paste and quote the messages.. there is no other way.. so, please forgive us if it looks a bit messy.. that's why we need to do this as early as possible so that we will not come to a dead end and practically impossible to move when the forum grows.
The board is funded by myself at the moment and other admins and Mods are chipping in the cost.. Off course we are looking for sponsors and donation from members to help us maintain this forum and pay for the coming years subscription and hosting fees. Also, note that donating members will be upgraded to VIP in the new forum. Financial reports will be provided half yearly.
As you can see.. I've spend nearly a month full time moving all these messages across and frankly.. I am getting sick of it.. ha!! Thank you z3n for helping out.. We do appreciate his effort..
Also, boards like Lounge, State Related activities, Market place etc. we have to either leave those messages behind or move them across slowly... Technical threads had already been moved over... We will provide a link to the old board in the new one to reference.
Sorry if this is a bit messy.. but .. that's the only way to get out of proboards..
