We are currently looking at other forum alternatives beside Proboards. The reasons are:
1. It is great that Proboards is free but there are no gurantee that the data will be protected because we are not sure what sort of support or backup they have in Proboards... after all, it's a free service.
2. Before we grow any further, we have to move out of Proboards as there is no way to convert the data over to any other forum software.. The bigger we grow.. the more painful it gets to convert...
3. Advertisements and limits..
4. We want our data to have some sort of backup and that we are fully protected when disaster strikes..
5. More professional looking...
The reason for this poll is to determine a method that our members prefer to move to the new forum software as there is no conversion tools from Proboards to the others.. the only way to migrate to the new forum is "cut" and "paste"... what a pain... so... Please vote:
1. Cut and Paste to the new Forum.. Lots of work and it's a pain.. The only way to do this is using the admin account and quote every member's post.
2. Stop the old board and enable the new one and create links on the new board.. (messy but less work) The old board will be a reference, the new board will be input from then on...
3. Combination of both.. Stop old board, enable new one, create link to old and slowly move over...
Please feel free to ask questions and I will be more than happy to reply.... if I know the answer.
