first attempt : CVT, led line and watch it auto change. it was fast in the first gear but kinda had some drag and slowed down abit changing from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. =9.7 Sec. 2nd attempt : CVT first gear and switch to S at 6000RPM. but 6000RPM was still too quick to change. you just have to hit it at the right spot before it auto changes gears. =9.4 seconds 3rd attempt : same principal as 2nd but i removed the spare tyre, sub and amp. and went on a smoother road. clocked 60mph/96.5km/h in 9 seconds.

When you change to S while on CVT doesn't the CVT turn off? do u time it really well such that when u change to S with ur left hand u almost simultaneously switch it back to CVT with ur right or do u just continue without CVT?
9 seconds is pretty impressive i gotta say - do u have performance mods?

jezzah.. why not try the gear stick in "S" and swtich to "7 speed" mode and change the gear when redline? I think that's why Mr Wong did.... the trick is the pick up.. have to step on the brake and rev at the same time and release the brake or some sort... can't remember...

I'm not sure about this but I think if you start from a standing stop on S and 7 speed your pickup is slower - i've been trying this and I think I find it slower than when I had it on D. Will try jezzah's method sometime. If you constantly step on the brake and rev you'll go thru ur brake pad quite quickly...

Agree with the brake pad... but that's the only way to get the gear engaged for the pickup.. if not, you will have a lag when you step on the accelerator and the car doesn't go. ;D ;D

yes i have to agree that it is much after to take off in D CVT mode than S. S tends to have more drag and takes abit longer to auto change gears.. the brake method will increase the speed by .45 of a second.. but in the long run you will kill the pads.. in thinking of getting NOS in my car soon (friends doing it for me) and i'll see if i can hit the 7 seconds mark.

If you brake while standing still you do NOT wear your brake pads. There must be movement of the rotors against the friction pads to have any wear.

It can't be great for the car accelerating in gear with the brakes fully applied and holding it for a sling shot launch frequently. If its not bad for the brakes got to not be good on the CVT tranmission. In manuals you eventually burn out the clutch doing the equivalent thing (riding the clutch).

Does anyone know the 0-60 time for a manual?

How many RPMs do u guys have it sitting on when u put ur brakes on and petal down? I only get about 3000RPM. Is that about right? I don't really feel the sling shot effect you guys are talking about.
